Agent Identity Security is a Prisma AIRS capability powered by Idira’s identity platform for agentic, machine and human identities. The solution gives AI agents unique, verifiable identities. It brings agent ownership, access controls and activity tracking together so teams can govern what agents do and hold them accountable.
Identity is fundamental to securing AI agents. Unless agents are each assigned a unique identity, organizations cannot enforce precise permissions to access resources, authenticate access, govern agent workloads, track and audit agent actions.
There are two problems when an AI agent accesses enterprise tools and data using inherited user credentials or shared accounts. First, when an agent uses a user’s identity it potentially has access to everything the human user has access to, second it is widely recognized that human users are over privileged. Additionally without distinct identities and access controls, agents can not only take unauthorized actions, it’s also very difficult for security teams to differentiate between the actions taken by the agent and user.
Agent Identity Security governs agent identities and access to tools through the AI Gateway. It centralizes agent records, assigns owners, verifies identities and enforces policies that determine which agents and users can access specific MCP server tools.
Within Prisma AIRS, Agent Identity Security establishes who an agent is and what it can access. The AI Gateway enforces those access policies, while AI Runtime Security protects against threats such as prompt injection and data leakage.
Registered agents have assigned owners, and activity logs capture the agent identity and associated user where applicable. This helps teams trace actions, investigate incidents and review access with a clear record of what the agent did and on whose behalf it took the action.
Agent Identity Security is powered by Idira’s identity security platform enabling customers with the Prisma AIRS AI Gateway to leverage Idira’s Secure AI Agents solution while using the already familiar AIRS UI. In this native integration, Idira provides agent identity capabilities, while the AIRS gateway enforces identity-aware access policies, such as controlling which tools agents can use and on whose behalf actions were taken.
